From October 12 to 23, 2026, the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics (FCIM) at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) is hosting an academic and research visit by Associate Professor Sergiu Nisioi, PhD, and PhD candidates Mircea Mihai Marin and Oleksandra Kuvshynova—representatives of the University of Bucharest who conduct their work within the Human Language Technologies Research Centre.
This visit aligns with FCIM’s efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation, promote interdisciplinary research, and integrate scientific research findings into the training of future specialists in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence.
A key component of the program involves Associate Professor Sergiu Nisioi, PhD, participating in teaching activities for second-year students of the “Generative Artificial Intelligence” master’s program. He will deliver lectures for the course “Security and Detection of AI-Generated Content.” The topics covered are particularly relevant given the rapid development of generative models, the challenges associated with identifying artificially created content, and the need to develop effective mechanisms for the responsible and secure use of artificial intelligence.
The visit program includes lectures, seminars, student consultations, scientific discussions, and working meetings with faculty members and researchers from the Department of Informatics. These activities facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, familiarize students with current research trends, and stimulate interest in participating in scientific projects and pursuing a career in research.
A core aspect of this collaboration involves joint research activities carried out within the framework of the Moldovan-Romanian bilateral project “ADAMo – Automated Detection of AI-Generated Texts from Moldova and Romania,” which also includes faculty members from the Department of Computer Science at FCIM.
The project addresses one of the contemporary challenges in the field of artificial intelligence: the automated identification of texts generated by AI systems, by leveraging natural language processing methods, linguistic resources, and computational text analysis techniques. Research in this area is relevant for developing tools to analyze and verify the authenticity of digital content, as well as for strengthening trust in the use of generative technologies.
The collaboration between research teams from the Republic of Moldova and Romania provides opportunities to develop shared scientific approaches, disseminate research findings through academic publications, and identify new avenues for cooperation within national and international projects. Furthermore, direct interaction among researchers, faculty members, doctoral candidates, and master’s students contributes to the consolidation of an active academic community focused on innovation and scientific excellence. Through such initiatives, FCIM reaffirms the importance of internationalizing education and research, fostering sustainable academic partnerships and facilitating the transfer of knowledge between universities, for the benefit of students and the scientific community.
The Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics extends its sincere thanks to Associate Professor Sergiu Nisioi, PhD, and his colleagues from the University of Bucharest for their involvement in academic and research activities, for the valuable exchange of experience, and for their contribution to developing scientific collaboration between the two institutions.
This cooperation highlights the role of university partnerships in advancing research in the field of artificial intelligence and in preparing a new generation of specialists capable of addressing the challenges of the digital society.
