On October 23, 2026, the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics (FCIM) at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) hosted the 42nd edition of the international Cloudflight Coding Contest 2026. This event, dedicated to enthusiasts of programming, algorithms, and software development, brought together 100 students organized into 32 teams. The competition offered participants the opportunity to demonstrate their programming skills, algorithmic thinking, and ability to identify efficient solutions to complex problems within a competitive and dynamic environment. Through the challenges presented, the students tested not only their technical knowledge but also their creativity, team spirit, and capacity to work under time pressure. Held simultaneously across several countries, the Cloudflight Coding Contest serves as an international platform for showcasing digital skills and connecting young programmers to the global IT community. In this year’s edition, the international rankings included participants from nine countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, India, the Republic of Moldova, Portugal, Poland, Romania, and Spain. The participants’ performance was evaluated both locally and internationally, allowing for a comparison between the results achieved by UTM students and those of competitors from other countries.
Following the evaluation, the local rankings were as follows:
1st Place – the team “Kadran O,” which ranked 14th globally:
Karina Drangoi – RM-231; Nicolae Ochișor – AI-231. 2nd Place – the “Skebob” team, ranked 29th globally:
Minih Mark – IA-263; Sîrbu Daniil – IA-263.
3rd Place – the “SI268” team, ranked 47th globally:
Ceric Ivan – SI-268; Rusnac Daniel – SI-268; Djur Artiom – SI-268.
These results highlight the potential of FCIM students and their capacity to compete internationally, demonstrating the importance of practical training, perseverance, and the continuous development of skills in the field of information technology.
The competition was organized at the Technical University of Moldova by the Department of Systems Engineering within FCIM, under the coordination of Dr. Viorel Cărbune, Head of the Department. The effort involved the active participation of faculty members Victor Ababii, Lilia Rotaru, and Silvia Munteanu, with support and guidance from the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics, which facilitated institutional coordination and ensured the necessary conditions for the successful conduct of the competition.
Through the joint efforts of the organizing team and the faculty leadership, participants benefited from an environment conducive to applying their knowledge and demonstrating their practical skills.
Hosting such an international competition reaffirms the commitment of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics, and Microelectronics to promoting academic excellence, developing digital competencies, and supporting young talent in the field of information technology. Furthermore, participating in international competitions helps strengthen the link between university education and the demands of the IT industry, encouraging students to explore new technologies, develop innovative solutions, and realize their professional potential.
Congratulations to the winning teams and to all participants for their dedication, perseverance, and the results they achieved!
Many thanks to the Systems Engineering Department team for successfully organizing the competition and for their contribution to fostering excellence among FCIM students!
