Recently, the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) provided the venue and support for the Republican Olympiad in Informatics, a competition that brought together 148 students from across the country. The event was organized by the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation (ANCE) within the Ministry of Education and Research, in collaboration with the members of the Republican Olympic Council and the Jury, with the logistical support of UTM.
A vital component of the organization was ensured by the UTM Information and Communication Technology Directorate (DTIC), led by Vasile Chetroi. The DTIC team, together with the engineering staff of the Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics (FCIM), managed the technical infrastructure, workstations, and the connectivity required for the smooth conduct of the competition rounds.
The opening ceremony took place at the Tekwill Center, attended by the General Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, Galina Rusu, the Director of ANCE, Lilia Ivanov, and the Rector of UTM, Prof. Dr. Hab. Viorel Bostan.
The coordination of the evaluation process and the specialized council was overseen by the Dean of FCIM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dumitru Ciorbă, in his capacity as President of the Republican Olympic Council for this discipline.
At the conclusion of the competition, 52 students were awarded based on their results in solving algorithmic problems. Hosting this event confirms FCIM’s commitment to supporting specialized pre-university education and its technical capacity to facilitate national-level programming competitions.
