Between 1 and 30 July 2026, the teaching staff of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics (FCIM), Technical University of Moldova – Associate Professor Dr. Victoria Bobicev, Associate Professor Dr. Daniela Istrati and Assistant Professor Rodica Braniște – carried out a research internship at the “Mihai Drăgănescu” Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest, within the ADAMo project – Automatic Detection of AI-Generated Texts from Moldova and Romania.
The ADAMo project aims to develop a classifier capable of automatically identifying texts generated by artificial intelligence. The research capitalizes on methods for analyzing linguistic features, and the developed solution is designed so that it can be adapted for other languages, contributing to the expansion of applications in the field of natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
An important role in the project is played by CoRoLa – the Reference Corpus of the Contemporary Romanian Language, a large-scale linguistic resource that includes over a billion words from written and spoken texts. In order to represent as faithfully as possible the linguistic varieties used in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the corpus was supplemented with at least 15 million words from high-quality texts from the Republic of Moldova. This expansion contributes both to the development of the ADAMo classifier and to the consolidation of the resources necessary for research in the field of computational linguistics.
During the internship, FCIM teaching staff carried out joint research activities with specialists from the “Mihai Drăgănescu” Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research, including with Dr. Verginica Barbu Mititelu, Deputy Director, Scientific Researcher II, and Dr. Elena Irimia, Scientific Researcher II. The work sessions focused on the analysis and processing of linguistic corpora, the exploitation of digital resources and the development of methods for the automatic identification of content generated by artificial intelligence.
ADAMo is a bilateral Moldovan-Romanian research project, carried out within the framework of Program 5.8 – European and International Cooperation, Subprogram 5.8.3 – Bilateral/Multilateral, which supports the development of joint research projects between the Republic of Moldova and Romania and the consolidation of scientific collaboration networks between the two countries.
The participation of representatives of the Department of Informatics in this internship contributes to the consolidation of the scientific partnership between the Technical University of Moldova and the Romanian Academy, to the development of research skills and to the increase of FCIM’s visibility in topical areas such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computational linguistics and automatic detection of AI-generated content.
